The Red Barn

The capacity of the barn is 120 people. We recommend up to 120 people for a either a standing or seated event.

When renting the barn, the large concrete pad outside the Red Barn is available for use. Additionally, there is a paved (brickwork) area, South of the building (by the cow sculpture).

The Red Barn interior is an exclusive space. However, the Red Barn is situated in a public area, and we do not guarantee exclusivity of the exterior surroundings, although we do our best with private event signage. There are three “Private Event” sandwich board signs which are available for your use during your event.

Yes you may bring your own liquor. You will require a liquor license/Special Event Permit (SEP) and you must ensure the stated requirements of the permit are met.

There are tables and chairs available for use during your event. Clients are responsible for setting them up and returning them to storage onsite after your event is finished.

We have the following inventory available:

25 round tables (6′ diameter) which comfortably seat 8 adults each

24 Rectangle tables (6′ x 30″ @ 29″ high)

140 white plastic folding chairs

Please note that this inventory is used for a variety of different indoor and outdoor events. We are not able to provide linens.

Yes you may use any licensed caterer you wish. Caterers are not permitted to cook in the Red barn kitchen, but may use the space for re-heating and plating already prepared food.

You are welcome to bring your own food. Food prepared by yourselves and shared with close friends and family (i.e. no one has been paid to provide the food) may be consumed without a food permit. Cooking food onsite is prohibited. The kitchen may only be used for re-heating and plating already prepared food.

Yes, food trucks are allowed. We ask that food trucks are parked on the gravel (to avoid stains on the concrete). Please ensure you obtain their permit and send a copy for our files.

There is no AV installed within the Red Barn, however you may bring a PA/audio system for your event. A little goes a long way- if you are only playing music for ambience, a Bluetooth speaker will often suffice.

After 7:30pm music must be played only inside the venue. Music must be off by 10:30pm and the barn must be empty by 11:00pm.

Yes, you may use your own vendors.

There is a dedicated smoking area outside the barn on the South West corner of the building. A cigarette receptacle is available.

Any music played requires a music license (SOCAN fee), which Southlands can provide for you at cost in your rental invoice.

Yes, you will be required to obtain $2 million liability insurance as detailed in the rental contract. You can go through a broker, or there are many online policies available. We would be happy to offer a link to an online insurance provider.

Southlands Grange does not offer event security. Obtaining event security is at the discretion of the user.

We follow all restrictions as set out by the Provincial Health Officer (PHO) under the Public Health Act.
